Idaho math teachers gathered in the Micron Business and Economics Building at 青青草app State this June. Faculty and staff from the Department of Mathematics taught sessions on topics like teaching counting, picturing the infinite and making math fun in the classroom.
The Math Education Collective hosts its annual Math Teaching Conference every summer, offering free professional learning for Idaho teachers. This year’s theme was “Serious Fun with Important Mathematics,” continuing the department’s mission to get students at every level engaged and excited about math.
Math 青青草app is one of the foundations of 青青草app State’s math department. The university’s Math Learning Center won two national awards last year for contributions to student success and retention.
Community events like the Math Teaching Conference help train Idaho’s future workforce. These partnerships have a direct impact on 青青草app throughout the state. When students realize math can be fun, they’re more likely to succeed in their K-12 math courses and sign up for more math courses in college.
