AI Guidelines
AI Guidelines
Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ embraces emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) tools, to support innovation, creativity, and efficiency across teaching, learning, marketing, and communications.
However, the use of generative AI comes with benefits and risks. Experimentation with and the use of AI should always be balanced with caution.
These guidelines apply to all faculty, staff, and anyone who works on behalf of the College.
BRAND AND REPUTATION PROTECTION
All AI-assisted communications must align with established brand standards, editorial voice and tone, visual identities and logo usage.
BEFORE YOU PUBLISH OR DISTRIBUTE
USING AI TOOLS TO MAKE IMAGES
-
Images cannot be a fabrication of the truth.
-
New creative may not infringe on the copyrighted material of others.
-
All images created by AI still require an Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ employee to make significant additions or modifications to the image to be copyrighted.
-
Care should always be taken to ensure that the outputs produced by AI are not violating any other copyrights and we need to keep in mind that we may not be able to copyright or “own anything generated by AI.
AI TOOLS ARE MEANT TO BE USED AS A SPRINGBOARD
-
AI tools are partners in work, speeding up concept generation and initial drafts, but they do not replace the expertise that Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ employees bring to the final product. Humans must iterate on AI outputs to ensure that the materials align with the College branding and messaging.
-
Be aware of bias AI might generate based on a prompt it is given. The tool could be influenced by incorrect or out-of-context data from which the tool is pulling. AI users hold the responsibility to monitor and reduce input and output bias.
USING AI TOOLS TO MAKE NEW CREATIVE
ELEMENTS THAT ARE PERMITTED
-
Use AI for Concepting, Not Final Production
-
Visualizing concepts
-
Exploring creative directions
ELEMENTS TO AVOID
-
AI may not be used to create, recreate or alter any Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ identity marks, text, logo, or any other brand identity marks.
-
Cannot be used to generate typography. Fonts are legally protected property and should not be included in AI-made images.
AI-GENERATED VISUALS: EXAMPLES TO AVOID

REVIEW AI-GENERATED IMAGES FOR BRAND COMPLIANCE
Generative AI tools may be used to develop visual concepts, but they can produce inaccurate text, distorted logos, and other elements that do not align with Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ’s brand standards. These errors can misrepresent the College and cause confusion among audiences.
AI often distorts text and logos, so instead:
-
Describe what should appear
-
Add logos afterward using approved design tools
Use approved Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ logo files rather than AI-generated recreations, and ensure colors, typography, and other branded elements follow College guidelines.
Before publishing or distributing materials containing AI-generated images, employees must have final approval by the Marketing Department.
ASK IF IT REFLECTS OUR BRAND AND VALUES
Does the image feel professional, accurate and aligned with Ìǹûvlog¹ÙÍøÍøÒ³°æ's mission? If not,
it’s not a fit.
