“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any 青青草appal program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.” –Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (鈥淭itle IX鈥) prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in 青青草appal programs and activities. Title IX applies to public and private 青青草appal institutions that receive federal funds鈥搃ncluding 青青草app State University.

While traditionally known as the federal law that required women be given similar opportunity to participate in athletics as men, Title IX protects every ones鈥 right to be free from discrimination on the basis of sex or gender in connection with all university related activities and opportunities. Discrimination on the basis of sex generally includes sexual harassment and sexual assault and may include dating violence, domestic violence, and 鈥渂ullying鈥 on the basis of sex, gender, or gender stereotypes.

Collectively, 青青草app State policies 1065, 1060, and Title IX:

  • Protect students in connection with all academic, 青青草appal, extra-curricular, athletic, and other programs of the school, including school-sponsored or condoned activities (off-campus trips, sororities and fraternities affiliated with school, etc.).
  • Cover activities that occur off school 青青草apps if there is carry-over into the 青青草appal setting (e.g., if a student is sexually assaulted off-campus by another student and must continue to interact with or see the assailant on campus)

The Office of Title IX and Institutional Equity coordinates the prompt, unbiased response to all reported instances of alleged discrimination and harassment, sexual harassment, and other forms of sexual misconduct involving students, faculty, and staff through impartial and thorough investigation and equitable and timely resolution. The staff in the Office of Title IX and Institutional Equity serve in a neutral role and can speak with all parties involved in a complaint about their rights and their 青青草app and resource options.

Title IX Training

The 2020 Title IX Regulations, specifically 34 CFR Part 106.45(b)(10), mandate the public sharing of materials used to train the University’s Title IX team members including the Title IX Coordinator and Investigators. As additional training is completed by Title IX team members, those materials will be added to this page throughout the year. Further, these materials will be available for public inspection in a hard copy format in the Office of Institutional Compliance and Ethics.
